Make a decision to change. People who cover over their sins will not prosper. But if they confess and forsake them, they will receive mercy. Prov 28:13 A man who refuses to admit his mistakes can never be successful. But if he confesses and forsakes them, he gets another chance. Prov 28:13 TLB Admitting our faults and deciding to change is the road to prosperity. Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart. Ps 37:4 God will help you change if you make change a desire of your heart. “I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants,” Deut 30:19 Our decision to change enables us to do everything necessary to accomplish change. It is a decision. 3. Prayer and confession. Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. James 5:16 When we pray, we are asking for God’s help to overcome. Only God has the power to help us overcome. But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. Eph 5:13 Confession to him and others brings sin into the light so that God can deal with it. 4. Spend time with God. After bidding them farewell, He left for the mountain to pray. Mark 6:46 If Jesus needed to get alone and pray, then so do we. The people or things that we spend the most time with has the most influence on us. Do we spend more time with the media, recreation or God? 5. Fasting. Food is your #1 desire. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not drive it out?” 20 And He said to them, “Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you. 21[” But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” Matt 17:19-21 Temptation is something our flesh desires, but that God says is off limits. It is a desire that comes easily to us. Food is our strongest desire. When we are able to make our #1 desire (desire for food) submit to the will of God, then it is easier to make other desires submit to Him. 6. Memorize scriptures.
